Making Hoshigaki: My First Attempt at Making Dried Persimmons on the Balcony

I finally made the dried persimmons (hoshigaki) I’ve been wanting to try for years!

The main ingredient is these astringent persimmons ↓

They look just like sweet persimmons on the outside, but…

First, peel them.

While I was peeling them, they started to look so delicious that I decided to give one a little taste.

“Wow… SO astringent!!”

Well, of course they were. 😂

Then I tied them up with string and hung them out on the balcony!

Oh, they look kind of cute. 😊

After they’ve been hanging for a while and start to soften, gently massage them with your hands.

This helps make the inside soft and smooth as well.

And then, two weeks later…

They’re done!!

Wow! I really made dried persimmons! ✨

They have such an elegant sweetness, and they’re soft and delicious. ♡

And then…

I ate every single one in no time! 😂

Homemade food takes a little extra time and effort, but somehow, it tastes even better because of it.

Why not give it a try?♪
